Virginia Cotton:

Seeing Better than Expected Grades

December 14, 2009 - In the middle of December there are still several thousand acres of cotton to harvest for our region.  As of this date, the quality has dropped some, but surprisingly we are seeing better than expected grades.  The primary issue has been micronaire, and color will be secondary issue.  One thing that we have noticed is that the modules that are packed hard do not soak up water from the bottom or the sides and keep better between picking and ginning.  The soft modules absorb water more easily.  Merry Christmas.
