From the latest news regarding top-performing Clearfield and x varieties CLL16 and PVL03 to promising new varieties like CLL18, the Horizon Ag 2022 Arkansas Field Day is the place for farmers looking for seed innovations that can result in higher yields, better milling quality and more return on their investment.

The 2022 Horizon Ag Arkansas Field Day is August 18 at the University of Arkansas NE Rice Research and Extension Center. It will begin at 5:00 p.m. and includes a field plot tour and guest speakers, followed by dinner.

“Our annual Arkansas Field Day is always a popular event for our customers and industry partners, and we’re particularly excited to be holding this year’s event for the first time at the NE Rice Research and Extension Center,” says Dr. Tim Walker, Horizon Ag general manager. “University of Arkansas breeders have a long history of working closely with Horizon Ag to advance new varieties that represent step changes in overall yield potential and disease packages.”

For instance, CLL16, an Arkansas-bred variety, has consistently shown that it can yield with or better than top-performing varietals and even hybrids. It has yielded 200-plus bushels per acre consistently across a wide range of geographies, while offering the advantages of a Clearfield variety at a lower seed cost than hybrids.

It has resistance to blast, performs well in both flood and row rice situations and has the high yield potential and great milling quality to truly earn its reputation as “The Complete Package.”

Field day attendees will also see and hear the latest on:

    • Horizon Ag CLL18, an exciting new, extremely high-yielding variety developed by the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment station that will be in limited release in 2023.
    • The Provisia Rice System and Horizon Ag variety PVL03, which has become an important tool for farmers seeking the best control available today for weedy rice, red rice and resistant grasses, or who want to establish a rotation to ensure the continued long-term effectiveness of the Provisia and Clearfield systems.
