The Acadia Parish LSU AgCenter will host a private pesticide applicator certification on April 6th.  This is not a recertification but an actual training to obtain a private pesticide applicator license.  The meeting will be held at the Acadia Parish LSU AgCenter office which is located at 157 Cherokee Dr.

The meeting time will be from 7:45am – 12pm and is limited to the first 100 people; afternoon session may become available pending a full morning registration.  The cost for this certification training will be $25 to LDAF and $25 to LSU AgCenter.  You must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid social security number.  Participation in this training course will allow participants to receive their private pesticide applicator certification.

Pre-register by calling 788-8821 or email Jeremy Hebert at jphebert@agcenter.lsu.edu.

This training will not include the dicamba trainings that have been offered at some previous meetings.  The dicamba training is ONLY required for those certain formulations that are applied over the top in management of dicamba resistant varieties (soybeans) OR if you are mixing one of those formulations with other herbicides on the farm.

Herbicides that contain dicamba (like weedmaster for example) DOES NOT require this same dicamba training. So, those producers that would need the dicamba training or paraquat training, would have to do those trainings online AFTER being certified through our training meetings. The online trainings for dicamba and paraquat are:

    • For Dicamba training: here
    • For Paraquat training: here

There is also training for the herbicide Roque.  Rogue is only labeled for rice and therefore would only be applicable to rice operations.  Gowan, the company that makes and sells Rogue, has the following online training available here. In visiting with the representative from Gowan, the training for Rogue is NOT a legal requirement.  He did say, however, for a complaint to be serviced, the training certification was required.
