The weather for this week in Georgia has mostly sunny days starting in the mid-70s and cooling by the weekend to mid-60s and into the low 50s by Tuesday. Evening and early morning temps are expected to be mostly in the 50-60s and cooling to the mid-40s by early next week. Rain is forecast Friday thru Sunday throughout the state.

Commercial domestic buyers have been busy purchasing this week and interest in the export business has increased. Prices remain strong and are slightly higher especially for gift pack or export quality pecans.

Growers are taking advantage of the good weather before the rain comes and getting all the pecans out of the orchards as they can and will be busy sorting, drying and preparing them to be sold next week and hopefully take a nice break for the Christmas weekend before finishing up in early January.

Blends of Stuarts (nut count 50-60) 46-50% meat yield sold in a range of about $4.20-4.40 per point occasional higher. Desirable Blends (nut count 45-50) 50-52% meat yield or better $4.40-4.50 per point (nut count 55-65) 48-53% meat yield sold in a range of about $4.25-4.45 mostly $4.25-4.35 per point occasional higher.

The gift pack and candy businesses are still fairly active while the export business has been active this week. Online business demand is still strong for holiday gift buyers.

Prices paid to growers (late afternoon Tuesday, December 14, 2021 thru late afternoon Thursday, December 16, 2021) at buyers delivery point or F.O.B. the orchard including direct sales to end users, cents per pound in-shell of generally good quality in lots of 20,000 pounds or less unless otherwise stated.
