Georgia Pecan Prices: Several Large Lots Hit Market

The weather for this week has mild sunny days in the mid 70s cooling slightly by Tuesday. Evenings and early morning hours are expected to be in the mid 40s to low 50s and rain is expected in the North Georgia areas for Monday December 6, 2021.

Several large lots came onto the market this week that were in storage awaiting a stronger market and were sold this week. Some growers may have one more time to go back through the orchards and collect what is left to work with.

Most are anticipating to be done around the Christmas holiday, while others are cleaning up and bagging what they have left to market now to finish up earlier. Prices were a little stronger this period for Improved varieties and about steady for others.

Deliveries of Blends (nut count 50-54) 53-54% meat yield sold in a range of about $4.20-4.25 per point. Other Blends (nut count 51-56) 46-50% meat yield sold in a range of about $4.10-4.25 per point. The gift pack and candy businesses are still fairly active. The export business is starting to show more interest now than earlier in the season. Online business is doing well for early gift buyers.

Prices paid to growers (late afternoon Tuesday, November 30, 2021 thru late afternoon Thursday, December 02, 2021) at buyers delivery point or F.O.B. the orchard including direct sales to end users, cents per pound in-shell of generally good quality in lots of 20,000 pounds or less unless otherwise stated.
