DTN Grain Close: Corn Defies Bearish Trade Day

July corn closed up 10 3/4 cents Wednesday, bucking the trend of mostly lower closes in the grain sector with support from active ethanol demand. September Minneapolis wheat traded down 33 1/4 cents earlier, but finished down just 6 1/4 cents after Tuesday’s rain in the Northern Plains.

GENERAL COMMENTS:

July corn closed up 10 3/4 cents and December corn was up 1/4 cent. July soybeans closed down 17 1/2 cents and November soybeans were down 8 3/4 cents. July KC wheat closed up 3 1/4 cents, July Chicago wheat was down 2 3/4 cents and July Minneapolis wheat was down 6 1/4 cents.

The June U.S. Dollar Index is trading up 0.02 at 90.10. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 47.33 points at 34,552.49. August gold is down $0.30 at $1,894.10, July silver is up $0.27 at $28.0 and July copper is down $0.0290. July crude oil is down $0.05 at $70.0, July heating oil is down $0.0037, July RBOB gasoline is down $0.0160 and July natural gas is unchanged
