The cash cattle market traded as it has been over the last two months — seeing the week’s trade develop as early as Tuesday.
The futures market traded on both sides of steady Tuesday, but ended up treating the lean hog and live cattle contracts favorably through closing.
Hog prices closed higher on the National Direct Afternoon Hog Report, up $1.93 with a weighted average of $112.34 on 4,894 head.
July corn is up 3/4 cent per bushel and July soybean meal is up $2.90. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 30.42 points and NASDAQ is up 43.19 points.
