Alabama Extension soil scientist Dr. Audrey Gamble and Extension Agent Eddie McGriff discuss the new labeling law that are currenting being considered in the Alabama Legislature on the latest edition of On The Farm in Alabama. The new lime labeling law will consider fineness as well as Calcium Carbonate Equivalent (CCE). Fineness + CCE equals Relative Neutralizing Value (RNV) of lime.

The RNV will give farmers the opportunity to compare lime sources to determine which is the best bargain. RNV is also necessary for precision application of lime.
