Peanut Stocks: Utilization Up 8%, 4.5Bln Pounds in Storage

Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on November 30, 2020 totaled 4.48 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 4.64 billion pounds a year ago. This total includes 3.85 billion pounds of actual farmer stock.

Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 601 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 28.1 million pounds.

Shelled peanut stocks totaled 452 million pounds of which 431 million pounds were edible grades and 20.9 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 57.3 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 336 million pounds of Runners, and 37.7 million pounds of Spanish.

Millings in November totaled 373 million pounds. Millings by type were 60.7 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 309 million pounds of Runners, and 3.26 million pounds of Spanish.

Commercial processors utilized 200 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during November. Utilization by type was 112 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 39.6 million pounds for peanut candy, and 42.5 million pounds for peanut snacks. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 51.2 million pounds during the month.

Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 1.24 million pounds of peanut butter and 103,680 pounds of roasted peanuts during November.

Stocks of treated seed on hand November 30, 2020 totaled 17,000 pounds, compared with 20,000 pounds on October 31, 2020.
