Iowa: Virtual Field Day Series Now Available on YouTube

ISU Extension and Outreach and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences recently hosted a “five-stop” virtual field day series. This series featured a greeting by Dean Dan Robison, an administrative update on the farms, and four consecutive days featuring water quality research, fungicide trials, a long-term tillage trial and phosphorous and potassium placement trials for crop production.

These presentations have been recorded and are now available at the ISU Crops Team YouTube channel. Each webinar included a short discussion on the key topic followed by time for questions and answers. This virtual format allowed ISU Extension and Outreach to deliver information usually shared at our research farm field days to people throughout Iowa and other states during the COVID crisis.

    • Field Day Stop 1: ISU Research Farm Update from CALS Dean Dan Robison and Director of Iowa State Research Farms Mark Honeyman
    • Field Day Stop 2: Water Quality Monitoring and Research Update from Dr. Matthew Helmers
    • Field Day Stop 3: Cardinal Fungicide Trial Update from Dr. Alison Robertson
    • Field Day Stop 4: Overview of Long-Term Tillage and Crop Rotation Studies from Dr. Mahdi Al-Kaisi and Angie Rieck-Hinz
    • Field Day Stop 5 (Coming soon!): Phosphorus and Potassium Placement and Tillage Studies Update from Dr. Antonio Mallarino

Other webinar recordings at this site include the “Responding to Increasing Drought Conditions in Iowa” series, the Managing Downed Corn webinar and various “how to” videos related to crop management and equipment. There is also a section devoted to youth titled “Crops for Kids”.  We hope you will find these resources to be helpful and informative.
