As of Friday, 46% of the Texas rice crop had been planted, according to an update on the Texas Rice Crop Survey page. The March 20 survey results also indicated that 14% of the crop had emerged, up from 2% the week before.

Planting is off to a brisk start compared to 2019 when planted acreage as of March 22 reached only 2%.

Extension agents in Chambers and Liberty Counties reported that their growers were dealing with wet conditions.
