Peanut Stocks: Utilization Up 2%; 4.7 Bln Pounds in Storage

Peanut stocks reported in commercial storage on November 30, 2019 totaled 4.68 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared with 5.00 billion pounds a year ago. This total includes 3.95 billion pounds of actual farmer stock.

Shelled peanuts on hand totaled 700 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totaled 30.6 million pounds.

Shelled peanut stocks totaled 526 million pounds of which 503 million pounds were edible grades and 23.1 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 93.7 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 369 million pounds of Runners, and 40.0 million pounds of Spanish.

Millings in November totaled 309 million pounds. Millings by type were 31.4 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 278 million pounds of Runners.

Commercial processors utilized 181 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts during November. Utilization by type was 104 million pounds for all peanut butter products, 30.6 million pounds for peanut candy, and 39.4 million pounds for peanut snacks. Crushing for oil and cake and meal totaled 47.1 million pounds during the month.

Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs amounted to 1.20 million pounds of peanut butter and 51,840 pounds of roasted peanuts during November.
Stocks of treated seed on hand November 30, 2019 totaled 203,000 pounds, equal to the 203,000 pounds on October 31, 2019. Of the November total, 133,000 pounds were Runners. October stocks of treated seed included 133,000 pounds of Runners.
