The annual Wheatheart Wheat Field Day, hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service offices in Ochiltree, Lipscomb and Hansford counties, will be May 21.

There will be no charge. Interested producers will need to gather at 10:30 a.m. at the Noon Vela farm 4 miles west of state Highway 70 and 1 mile north of Farm-to-Market Road 759 on County Road 11.

Those attending will view dryland variety trials and hear updates from AgriLife Extension specialists on diseases, insects and variety characteristics. Speakers will include Dr. Ken Obasa, plant pathologist; Dr. Ed Bynum, entomologist; and Dr. Jourdan Bell, agronomist, all from Amarillo; and Dr. Clark Neely, state agronomist, College Station.

Lunch will be provided by Equity Exchange and Texas Wheat Producers at the field.

There will be one Texas Department of Agriculture integrated pest management continuing education unit available to those with pesticide licenses.
