The annual Tennessee-Kentucky Tobacco Expo is scheduled for Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at the Robertson County Fairgrounds Community Building in Springfield. The free event is hosted by University of Tennessee Extension and kicks off at 8 a.m. CST.
The Expo provides information on tobacco production and industry updates as well as Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Training. The annual GAP training is coordinated by UT Extension in partnership with GAP Connections with a goal of educating growers on best management practices. Tailored to tobacco producers, this training will address crop production, environmental stewardship and labor management.
In addition to seminars, the Tobacco Expo features a trade show with more than 30 agribusinesses. These businesses represent tobacco or related industries, and representatives will be on hand to demonstrate and discuss their latest products and services.
The complete schedule is as follows:
- 8 a.m. – Registration and Trade Show
- 8:30 a.m. – Tobacco Production and Industry Updates
- 10:30 a.m. – GAP Training
- 12:15 p.m. – Lunch
Commercial Pesticide Applicator points will be available in Categories 1, 10 and 12.
