Alabama: Peanuts as an Alternative Crop Meeting, Jan. 23

Peanuts are an option for North Alabama growers and based on past yields of row crops and projected row crop prices for 2019, they look like they have the most profit potential. There will be a “Peanuts as an Alternative Crop in North Alabama” meeting on Wednesday, January 23 from noon-2:30 pm at the Sand Mountain Research and Extension Center at 13112 Alabama Highway 68 in Crossville.

  • Kris Balkcom-Alabama Extension Peanut Specialist: “Peanut Varieties for North Alabama”
  • North Alabama Peanut Farmer Panel-Jimmy and Lance Miller; Nick McMichen and Jared Wooten: “Opportunities and Pitfalls in Growing Peanuts”
  • Peanut Buyers Panel-Justin Straub, West Bay Peanut Company (Golden Peanut Company): “Contracting Peanuts”
