There are several growers in NE Alabama that were not able to attend the Auxin training in Centre or Cullman. Tyler Sandlin, Alabama Extension crop specialist, and I have scheduled another Auxin training on Tuesday, March 6 at 11am at Mud Creek BBQ at 884 County Road 213 in Hollywood (Jackson County).

This will be a good opportunity to attend the required Auxin training if you have missed the training at the other locations.  The registration fee is $15. You can pay the registration fee and register at the training. Lunch will be provided.

In October of 2017, the EPA approved revised labels for Xtendimax, FeXapan and Engenia. All these products are now restricted use pesticides, meaning an applicators permit must be held in order to purchase and apply these products. The labels now also require applicators to attend an annual training.

In addition to becoming restricted use, these revised labels have more restrictions outlining how the products should be applied. The language regarding buffers and applications near sensitive crops has also been rewritten.

This training is intended to assist applicators with reducing incidents of herbicide drift to susceptible crops, technical application methods, tank cleanout, and information about the new chemistries. The certified applicator or person responsible for the application of these products must have a commercial or private applicators permit in conjunction with training.
