Oklahoma Pecans: Light Demand as Harvest Finishes

Pecan harvesting is now mostly complete in all counties and harvesters cleaning up just a few orchards. Deliveries by growers light to moderate and some buyers have closed their doors. Many current offerings were of very low quality and are not finding buyers. Sheller demand light to moderate.

The weather forecast this week calling for highs in low 50s to mid 30s and lows in upper teens to mid 30s.

Prices paid to growers (noon Tuesday, December 19, 2017 to noon Tuesday, January 02, 2018) at buyers delivery points or F.O.B. the orchard including direct sales to end users, cents per pound, in-shell of generally good quality in lots of 20,000 pounds or less unless otherwise stated.

  • Natives/Seedlings (deliveries light to moderate) machine harvested 38-40% meat yield lots 500-2,000 lbs. 135-155 yard tree lots 75-90

Lots in excess of 20,000 pounds including trailer loads:

  • Native/Seedlings (deliveries light to moderate) 40% meat yield and higher 160-185 38-39% meat yield 150-161
