Louisiana Pecans: Prices Steady with Light Deliveries

Very light deliveries this week. Many of the lots have black rot, sprouting and excess moisture resulting in lower prices. Prices are about steady. Most of the sales are sold as retail off the farm.

The weather forecast for the week shows freezing temps for evenings and early mornings through the weekend and warming up with some rain expected by Jan 9 with daytime temps into the 60s.

Prices paid to growers (late afternoon Tuesday, December 19 through late afternoon Tuesday, January 2, 2018) at buyers delivery points or F.O.B. the orchard including direct sales to end users, cents per pound, in-shell of generally good quality in lots of 20,000 pounds or less unless otherwise stated.

  • Natives/Seedlings (deliveries light) machine harvested 38-40% meat yield 135-160 yard tree lots 70-85 fair to poor quality lower
