Louisiana Pecans: Very Light Deliveries, Prices Steady

Growers are busy accumulating pecans and preparing them for market. Very light deliveries this week. The market is about steady. Most of the sales are sold as retail off the farm.

The weather forecast throughout most of the state for this week calls for mild temperatures with lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s with rain expected on November 29 through December 1.

Prices paid to growers (late afternoon Tuesday, November 21 through late afternoon Tuesday, November 28, 2017) at buyers delivery points or F.O.B. the orchard including direct sales to end users, cents per pound, in-shell of generally good quality in lots of 20,000 pounds or less unless otherwise stated.

  • Elliott (deliveries very light) machine harvested 50% meat yield 200-205 yard tree lots 120
  • Natives/Seedlings (deliveries light) machine harvested 38-40% meat yield 135-145 yard tree lots 80 fair to poor quality lower

Lots in excess of 20,000 pounds including trailer loads:

  • Native/Seedlings (deliveries very light) 38% meat yield or better 135-145 mostly 145
