AgBiome announced today that Howler fungicide received registration from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The first product to be marketed by AgBiome Innovations and developed by AgBiome Inc., is a biological fungicide that is highly effective against fungal diseases common to high-value crops.
“This is great news for specialty crop growers,” says John Rabby, AgBiome Innovations commercial director. “Howler provides preventive, long lasting activity on a broad spectrum of soilborne and foliar diseases, with no special handling or storage required.”
OMRI-listed for use in certified organic production, Howler is exempt from the requirement of tolerances in the US. Howler can be used effectively at every phase of crop production with a zero-day pre-harvest interval (PHI) and a four-hour, restricted-entry interval (REI).
“Howler fights disease with three modes of action – metabolic, enzymatic and exclusion by competing with invading pathogens,” says Steve Ronyak, field biology manager for AgBiome. The active ingredient actively destroys pathogenic fungi, stops fungal development and protects plant surfaces.
