The 2017 Missouri Rice Field Day will be held Thursday, August 24, at the Rice Research Farm. Field tours start at 8 a.m. The farm is located 8 miles west of Malden on Highway J.

Michael Aide, Soil Scientist, Southeast Missouri State University, who will speak on row rice and its market acceptance.
Sam Atwell, University Missouri Extension, and Anserd J. Foster, Kansas State University, who will cover mid-season nitrogen decisions (GreenSeeker sensors.
Christian DeGuzman, Rice Breeder with Southeast Missouri State University, who will give an overview about rice varieties for Missouri.
David Dunn, University of Missouri Soil Testing laboratory, who will cover rice straw managmenet.
James Heiser, University of Missouri Weed Scientist, who will provide an update on weed control options.
David Reinbott, Ag Business Program Director, Southeast Region, University of Missouri, who will review rice market trends and farm program payments.
Matthew Rhine, University of Missouri Agronomist, who will cover irrigation scheduling in row rice.
Gene Stevens, Cropping Systems, who will talk about managing rice to reduce chalkiness.
Yeshi Wamishe, University of Arkansas Plant Pathologist, who will cover rice diseases.
Ken Cote with Intertek Ag Services, who will provide an overview of how rice products are tested in global markets.
Warren Cork, Warren with USDA-NRCS, who will discuss work done on soil health using rainfall simulation.
The event includes lunch. Speakers will be Greg Yielding with the U.S. Rice Producers Association, and Eric Hover with the Missouri Rice Research and Merchandising Council.
