The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a free cotton bug scouting school June 1 in the Oil Room located on the South Plains College campus, 1401 S. College Ave. in Levelland.
The day will open with registration at 8 a.m. followed by the program from 8:30 a.m.-noon.
Organizers said the curriculum is geared toward crop consultants, farmers and their workers, AgriLife Extension agents and their interns.
Speakers will be Dr. Suhas Vyavhare, AgriLife Extension entomologist, Lubbock, and Kerry Siders, AgriLife Extension integrated pest management agent for Hockley, Cochran and Lamb counties.
Topics will include cotton agronomy, plant mapping, insect pests and beneficials, weed identification, crop herbicide injury, cotton diseases, worker protection standards and hands-on cotton plant mapping.
