Netafim Drops Two Central Valley Irrigation Dealers After Jain Deal

Irrigation manufacturer Netafim USA announced today that two California companies – Patterson-based Irrigation Design and Construction, Inc. (IDC) and Fresno-based Agri-Valley Inc. (AVI) – will no longer be recognized as authorized distributors of Netafim’s leading product portfolio.

The decision to revoke IDC and AVI’s status as Netafim authorized dealers is a direct result of the announcement that the two firms have entered into an agreement to merge their businesses under a newly formed distribution company, according to a press release. The new company is “owned in its majority” by Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd, a Mumbai, India-based irrigation manufacturing company.

“We terminated our relationship with IDC and AVI to demonstrate our strong support for the independent dealers, ultimately for the benefit of California’s growers,” said John Vikupitz, CEO and President of Netafim USA. “We see this arrangement to be in direct conflict with our policy of maintaining independent, full service dealer-partners that lead with our products and who share our philosophy of providing growers with the best possible irrigation solutions.”

Netafim USA will continue to service growers in the region through its  network of authorized, full service dealers, the release said.

Netafim USA, based in Fresno, California, develops and manufactures drip irrigation systems for agricultural uses.
