Texas: Private Pesticide Applicator License Training, San Angelo, May 5

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Tom Green County and Angelo State University’s department of agriculture will conduct a Private Pesticide Applicator Training May 5 in San Angelo.

The training will start with registration at 12:30 p.m. followed by the program from 1-5 p.m. in Room 250 of the Vincent Nursing and Physical Science Building, 2333 Vanderventer Ave., on the Angelo State University campus.

“This is not a continuing education or CEU training,” said Josh Blanek, AgriLife Extension agent in Tom Green County. “This training is specifically for persons seeking a Texas Department of Agriculture private pesticide applicator license.”

Blanek said the license is required to purchase and apply restricted-use herbicides and pesticides.

“The Texas Department of Agriculture requires individuals to successfully complete this training before they can test for a private applicator pesticide license, which is also obtained through that agency,” Blanek said.

The training and testing used to occur together on the same day, but that is no longer the case due to current TDA procedures, Blanek said. However, information will be provided during the training on how and when to test once the training is complete.

Individual registration is $50 due upon arrival. RSVP by April 28 to the AgriLife Extension office in Tom Green County at 325-659-6523 to ensure the correct amount of study materials are ordered. More information is also available at that number.
