Soybeans: EPA Grants Label for Zeal SC Miticide

Valent U.S.A. announced today that the Environmental Protection Agency has granted a soybean label for Zeal SC Miticide. This provides growers with a new tool for mite control. Until now, growers have had limited options when dealing with mites in beans.

The mode of action of Zeal ensures at least three weeks or more of residual control, the company said in its announcement. It also targets all stages of a mite’s life cycle, from egg to adult. It also provides translaminar activity, meaning the active ingredient moves into plant tissue.

“Zeal is a much-needed solution for soybean growers who are struggling to manage mite populations,” said Carlos Granadino, product development manager for Valent. “Mite damage in soybeans is prevalent in drought and dry conditions, which for many soybean geographies, is an annual occurrence.”
