South Carolina Small Grains: Pee Dee Harvest in Full Swing

Growers have been harvesting small grains at full speed since the rain stopped earlier this week.  We have a greatly reduced amount of small grain acres this year, especially wheat, so harvest probably won’t take very long this year.  Here are some photos below of rapeseed harvest.

The end product.

So far, reports indicate that yields are down on wheat, oats, and rapeseed.  That shouldn’t really come as a surprise as this past winter turned out to be pretty hard on our crops.  We saw rain, warm weather, late cold weather, more rain, and lots of disease.
