    Colorado: Planting Progresses Despite Lack of Precipitation – USDA

    Crop Progress and Condition for the Week Ending April 26, 2015.

    AGRICULTURAL SUMMARY: Last week was marked by cooler temperatures throughout Colorado while replenishing precipitation events were noted in several localities. However, portions of Colorado stricken by persisting dry conditions remained without adequate moisture, particularly in the southeast district. Planting activities progressed well in spite of the precipitation events.

    Reporters in the San Luis Valley expressed concerns over an apparent lack of irrigation reserves. Stored feed supplies were rated 2 percent very short, 7 percent short, 80 percent adequate, and 11 percent surplus. Sheep death loss was 65 percent average and 35 percent light. Cattle death loss was 1 percent heavy, 82 percent average, and 17 percent light.
