The Natural Resources Conservation Service and Caddo Soil and Water Conservation District are hosting a one-day irrigation efficiency workshop on Feb. 12, 2013, in Shreveport, La.
The event will be held at the Caddo Extension Service Office, 2408 East 70th Street. It begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. Registration is free, and lunch will be provided.
During the workshop, farmers will learn how to monitor the efficiency of their current irrigation system, plan a more efficient irrigation system, conserve energy, and recover tailwater/surface runoff. A briefing will also be provided on the Red Bayou Irrigation Project.
“Efficient crop irrigation is a science,” said Brian Baiamonte, NRCS District Conservationist in Shreveport. “Our workshop instructors will decipher the science and show farmers how easy it is to design and operate a highly efficient and effective
irrigation system.”
To register or find out more information about the workshop, call or e-mail Joy Knotts, Caddo Soil and Water Conservation District, at (318) 676-3461, extension 3, or joy.knotts@la.nacdnet.net.
